Bent Dorm Room Key
December 1st, 2010Let me tell you a funny story that happened last weekend when I was dropping my daughter off at college. It was Saturday night after the holiday weekend so most of the students were not returning until the next day so the place was pretty much deserted. Anyway, we get to her door and she fishes around her backpack for her dorm room key, finds it, then proceeds to try to open up her door. Well, the door would not open, puzzled, tried again, then noticed that the key was bent in half. Ha! How did that happen? Anyway, she searched out her RA to see if they had an extra key to her room, they did not since it was a holiday weekend. The RA did have a master key and was able to let her in. To make a long story shorter, I was able to bend back the key by placing it on the floor and slowing applying pressure down on the bent key with the bottom of my shoe until it was able to fit in the key hole and unlock the door. Ah what fun, college daze...
250,000 miles on my daughters 1997 Honda Civic EX
November 7th, 2010Today, my daughters 1997 Honda civic EX just crossed the 250,000 miles benchmark. This car which we bought from my brother at 240,000 miles runs like new. The car was first purchased with over 130,00 miles on it for my nephew which he used it for college at UCF (Florida) and then turned it over to his sister (my neice) for a few years. Then when visiting them 2 years ago I saw it in the driveway (240,000 miles) with a for sale sign on it. So since my daughter was turning 16 I inquired about it and bingo, bought it on the spot. We drove it back from Florida to Baltimore where we live and she has been driving locally school and such. Anyway, she is off at college now so I have been driving it every few days to keep it warm. Today, the speedometer hit 250,000 and I must say this car runs like new.

The Most Interesting Man in the World
June 30th, 2010Who is the real Most Interesting Man in the World? Could it possibly be Mr. Bump? He has been known to have negotiated multi-billion dollar deals on Park Place and Boardwalk. Some people refer to him as the "doer", he just doesn't say he is going to do something, he actually does it. He has been seen dining with some of the most beautiful women in the world like his daughter. When confronted with a crisis he immediately takes charge unlike our president. He will always "keep you posted". He can cook a hamburger and make sun tea all by himself. He can even make fart noises with his right hand under his arm pit. He never shops at Walmart even though he owns Walmart stock. When he was a child he learned how to swim in the family backyard sprinkler. Even as a young adult he was able to master the art of negotiating his way down a busy sidewalk. Mr. Bump does not claim to be a doctor or lawyer, neither does he play one on TV. Mr. Bump is truly the Most Interesting Man in the World.

2010 High Gas Prices? Where is the Media Outrage?
April 15th, 2010Once again gas prices are climbing near or above the $3 mark. Where is all the outrage? Water cooler, no outrage... check, pumping gas, no outrage... check, newspapers, media, congress-critters, no outrage... check. Hum, I wonder why... the silence???
If I recall when George W Bush was our president and prices were about the same, there was non-stop media coverage about the high gas prices. You couldn't pump gas without noticing others shaking their heads at the pump. You couldn't even tap the water cooler at the office without the subject of high gas prices coming up in conversation. Even our congress-critters where shown non-stop on TV demanding lower prices. So what is different this time?
The difference now is that the media is covering for our dear leader Obama. You see, dear leader gets a pass on everything from the liberal media including... yes high gas prices. That is the difference IMO.
